The Centrepoint Library—A New Beginning
Since mid-December 2010, the team of five librarians, led by Joanna Lonergan, have been busily processing donated books, building an online catalogue and getting them shelf-ready.

The New Centrepoint library is now open for business whenever Centrepoint is open.

What is Where?
Adult fiction is shelved in the large library room, in a single sequence by author name, or as collected works, by name of the editor. For now, a special section containing books about Switzerland and Basle are kept in the large library room. The new additions to the CP Library are also displayed prominently on a separate shelf.

In the small Library room you will find Children's books and young adult literature shelved alphabetically in the upper shelves. To allow very young readers to access their books, picture books /books for toddles have been put on the low shelving ranges in no particular order.

Biographies and Travel Books are also shelved in the small library room, in their own range of shelves.

Book spines are labeled with coloured dots that indicate their general content:

Large Library Room:

RedGeneral fiction

Green:  Crime and thrillers

BlueScience fiction and fantasy

Books about Switzerland

  Books about Basel

Small Library room:

WhiteBiographies and autobiographies

BlackTravel Guides and General Travel Books

YellowChildren and young adult

How Do I Know What Is Available?
All books you see on the shelves in the large library room have been processed into Koha, the library’s new cataloguing software, and are available for loan. At present, "what you see is what you can borrow”.

An online public access catalogue is in the works, and it will enable you to search the Centrepoint Library catalogue via the internet.

Book Donations
We welcome English language books donations in good condition! As available space is scarce, we only process general fiction and a limited selection of non-fiction (travel books, biographies and memoirs). Books can be brought in for donation at any time during open hours.

Please note that all duplicate books and all books received which are not within the library scope will be put to our book sale.
